Curiously, The Rock had to drop nearly 60lbs to play his character in The Smashing Machine. Interestingly, there were a lot of discussions about his health at the time, with speculations floating about that he could be unwell, but that wasn’t the case. So, when he had to start shooting for Moana, he looked significantly lighter and didn’t have time to gain the required pounds.

After some consideration, it was finally decided that the WWE legend would wear a 40lbs bodysuit, as he could not do justice to his role as Maui if he kept looking like his character from his previous film.

“We were considering me just stepping on set how I looked in The Smashing Machine, but the body was just intensely different. We are the keepers of integrity, but also the fans are keepers of integrity, and if I stepped on set looking like how I looked, they would have had a complete organ rejection,” he said. You can check out his look for Moana in the tweet below:

Thankfully, Johnson is in great health, and any weight loss he’s had to undergo or any pounds added have all been because of the roles that he needed to play at different times.

The Rock had a health scare recently

During the recent promotions for his film Jumanji, The Rock had a bit of a health scare.

Speaking to Esquire, he said that he had found a lump on his testicle and had to undergo an ultrasound to make sure it wasn’t cancerous. However, it turned out to be epididymitis, and there was nothing much to be concerned about.

“By the way, I’m fine. But I didn’t know that then, and the thing was really painful,” he said. [H/T: Esquire]

It remains to be seen what The Rock will be up to next. He stays in good health and hasn’t been seen in the Stamford-based promotion since the Elimination Chamber Premium Live Event last year.
