• Project Endgame will be the final Gunther Werks-produced Speedster.
  • The heavily reworked 993-based Porsche 911 features an 840-hp twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter flat-six.
  • The theme is heavily inspired by Marvel’s Avengers: Endgame.

Gunther Werks has revealed its latest build: a 993-based Porsche 911 that’s been fully transformed into a wild one-off twin-turbocharged Speedster. This wicked roadster has been dubbed “Project Endgame”—and you’ll find out why in a second.

The name refers to this machine being the final Speedster built by the company. This isn’t an end to all things Gunther Werks, however, as the car also signifies the start of GWX—Gunther Werks’ Bespoke coachbuilding division. Starting (and ending) with a deep red topless twin-turbocharged 840-horsepower is a hell of a way to kick things off.

A Quite Marvel-ous Theme

You’re not wrong to start picking up on the clues right away. From the True Candy Red carbon-fiber bodywork, which Gunther Werks calls a suit, to the gold accents, there’s clearly a touch of Iron Man tailoring at play here.

Dive deeper, however, and it becomes more obvious that this car is a full-on Avengers-level threat. There’s a nod to Tony Stark’s suit-delivery device, set between the seats. Finally, the shift lever features obvious nods to the Avengers universe. Gunther Werks even says it has a satisfying snap.

Looks aside, Gunther Werks has built a true monster here. The twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter flat-six engine was built by Rothsport Racing. It’s good for 840 hp and 660 pound-feet of torque, and it will rev to 7,500 rpm. Gunther Werks employs a Thanos-grade six-speed stick to back up the mill, and power flows out to the rear wheels.

Two excellent touches to point out are the flat-mounted fan, which traces back to Porsche race cars, and the individual throttle bodies, which signify that Project Endgame must sound unreal at full tilt.

Gunther Werks remains mum on who commissioned the build. We hope it’s for someone prominent in the Marvel universe; otherwise, the theme comes off a bit cringey. Regardless, Gunther Werks says the car is a one-off, right down to using this engine in a Speedster body. That last bit comes at the client’s request.

Considering this car likely cost the owner north of $1.5 million to have built, we’re not surprised Gunther Werks agreed.

Motor1’s Take: The car looks phenomenal, even if you’re split on the overall theme. If the owner’s initials are RDJ, we’re all for it. Plus, with a dry weight of just 2,600 pounds and 840 hp on tap, Project Endgame would be a riot to drive in any version of the multiverse.
