Wales and Wrexham goalkeeper Danny Ward says he is aiming to return to action “around January time” after undergoing surgery on an elbow injury.

Ward began the season as Wrexham’s first-choice goalkeeper having signed on a free transfer in July after leaving Leicester City.

But the 32-year-old was carried off with a dislocated elbow in just the fourth league game of the Championship campaign at Millwall in late August.

“It’s frustrating but it is what it is,” said Ward, who was also knocked unconscious as he fell awkwardly when trying to claim a cross at The Den.

“It’s a different role now, you have just got to be supportive of the boys in and around the club and the country and take every day as it comes. I have just got to keep going.”
