Following his father’s footsteps into the wrestling business, The Rock was booed in his debut match with chants of “Die, Rocky, die” ringing in his ears. But he turned it around to become the most electrifying man in sports and entertainment. Then, at the peak of his pro wrestling career, he decided to give Hollywood a shot, a road that had seen little to no success for wrestlers.

Yet again, The Brahman Bull proved his doubters wrong and became one of the most sought-after actors in the industry. All this came after an early life of hardship and struggle, and recently his rise to stardom received recognition.

Forbes released a list of 250 greatest living self-made Americans, and the WWE icon was featured at number 70. The list honors people by measuring financial success, obstacles overcome, and enduring impact.

The former WWE Champion was 14 when his family was evicted from their apartment in Hawaii. The Rock pursued football as his dream, but it came to an end after he was cut from the Canadian Football League. When he arrived in Tampa, Johnson said he only had $7 with him. The amount would later become the inspiration for his Seven Bucks production company.

WWE star does not want to copy The Rock

There is little doubt that The Rock has influenced many of today’s wrestlers. One such name who admired him growing up is Trick Williams.

The SmackDown superstar has a natural charisma to him, which has led to comparisons with the icon. While the Anointed One acknowledges the influence of the People’s Champion, he doesn’t want to be the next Rock.

In an interview with The Sun, he said that the former WWE Champion was the reason he started studying pro wrestling. However, he wants to carve his own path.

“I wanted to know what it felt like to just come out flying and just sit there and let the people feel your presence. So, there’s a lot of things that The Rock did that influenced me as a performer, but by no means do I want to be the next Rock,” he added.

It will be interesting to see how Trick Williams’ WWE career unfolds and if he will be able to touch the same heights his inspiration did.
