Ridge Holland teamed up with Sheamus to battle The New Day’s Big E and Kofi Kingston in a tag team match on the March 11, 2022, episode of WWE SmackDown. The action spilled out of the ring during the match, and Holland hit Big E with an Overhead Suplex that went terribly wrong.
Big E landed hard on the floor and suffered a broken neck and still has not been able to return to the ring. Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods departed the promotion earlier this year after reportedly being asked to take a pay cut.
Ridge Holland opens up about WWE releases
Wrestling veteran Ridge Holland recently opened up about the company releasing talent from the roster.
Speaking on the Wrestling Pedigree podcast, Holland was asked about the promotion releasing wrestlers, and he suggested that it was a bad business practice. He noted that people get hurt working for WWE, and there should be better standards for looking after the talent.
“I think it’s bad business practice. I think it shows that you don’t care about your talent. It shows you don’t care about human beings. These people got hurt working for you… I just don’t think you can treat humans like that, especially when we’re putting our bodies on the line for you guys. I think that there needs to be better standards and practices when it comes to looking after talent,” Holland said.
It will be interesting to see what the future holds for the 38-year-old in the world of professional wrestling.
