There’s officially a new golf course in Northern Colorado.
The public-access Bella Ridge Golf Club has opened for preview play in southwest Johnstown, less than 2 miles east of Interstate 25 between Weld County roads 42 and 44.
Converted farmland is now a rolling par-72 course with over 200 feet of elevation change, 50-plus bunkers, wide fairways and views out toward Longs Peaks.
The course is open for play in fall 2025 but with limited available tee times. There will be sparse amenities and no driving range yet as construction continues on surrounding facilities.
Bella Ridge sits on a former dairy farm that the Podtburg family ran for over 45 years before the Johnstown locals decided to build a golf course on the land.
“As a family who has spent our entire lives in Johnstown, it’s an incredible honor to bring this course to our community,” Rick Podtburg said in a news release. “We’ve poured over eight years into designing and building something truly special, and we always felt this land, with its elevation changes, lakes, and spectacular mountain views, was meant for golf.”
“As our town continues to grow, we believe this course will be a timeless amenity that reflects the pride we have for Johnstown and creates a place for connection, recreation, and lasting memories.”
The course is professionally managed by Troon Golf and designed by golf architect Art Schaupeter. The Colorado native has designed or renovated over a dozen courses across six states, including TPC Colorado in Berthoud and Highland Meadows in Windsor.
Bella Ridge will play as long as 7,268 yards or as short as 3,200 yards, with undulating fairways and numerous water hazards.
The new course is expected to fully open throughout 2026.

- 400-yard-long practice range
- Dedicated short-game practice area
- 15,000-square-foot practice putting green
- Professional instruction for juniors and adults
- Year-round indoor golf simulator
- Full golf/pro shop
- Food and beverages in Virgil’s Lounge
While final construction projects are completed around the clubhouse, golfers will enter the property through a temporary entrance with food and beverage limited to beverage cart service.
Bella Ridge golf pricing, tee times
The course will utilize “dynamic pricing,” adjusted in real time based on demand, time of day, day of the week, how far in advance you book and more.
Here’s how that will look, according to the course’s website:
- Plan ahead: The earlier you book, the better the price.
- High demand times (like weekends and mornings) may cost more.
- Off-peak times (like weekday afternoons) may be priced lower.
Currently available October 2025 tee times are priced around $80-85 via Bella Ridge’s website.
