Later, The Scottish Warrior took out the replacement referee with a Glasgow Kiss in an attempt to hit his opponent with the steel chair. However, Jacob Fatu came out of nowhere to stop Drew in his tracks. The Samoan Werewolf’s interference distracted McIntyre, and Cody took advantage of the situation to hit McIntyre with a Super Cutter before hitting him with the Cross Rhodes to regain the Undisputed WWE Championship.

Cody Rhodes has now taken to Instagram to share off-air footage from SmackDown after his title win. The American Nightmare thanked the crowd in Portland, saying that they had given him one of the “greatest memories” of his career.

“Portland! I’ll make this short and sweet. I grew up, and all I knew about Portland and its wrestling scene was Don Owens [and] Rowdy Piper. And I thought all day, ‘Do I have any memories here?’ Tonight, you’ve given me one of the greatest memories of my career. Thank you,” he said.

Cody then got extremely emotional while talking about his daughters, saying that his elder daughter, Liberty, will see her father compete in his fourth main event of WrestleMania, and now his younger daughter will witness her father in the main event of ‘Mania 42 for the first time.

“I have two daughters. One’s four, one’s six months, Liberty and Leilani. People always talk about Dusty, and they don’t realise, you know, not to sound morbid, I’m not doing this for the dead, I’m doing this for the living. And Liberty has gotten, she’s gotten four WrestleMania main events. Now Leilani gets one herself. I will never forget the night I won the WWE Championship in Portland, Oregon,” he added.

Cody Rhodes will face his mentor, Randy Orton, at WWE WrestleMania 42

Before Cody Rhodes’ win on SmackDown, this year’s Men’s Elimination Chamber winner, Randy Orton, was supposed to lock horns with Drew McIntyre for the Undisputed WWE Championship at WrestleMania 42.

However, now Rhodes will face his mentor and former Legacy teammate in the main event of one of the nights at this year’s Show of Shows. It will be interesting to see who will come out on top between The Viper and The American Nightmare.
