Chelsea Green had captured the championship by winning a ladder match at the SummerSlam PLE. Following the win, the next episode of SmackDown was when she suffered the eye injury. But being a part of the wrestling business for over a decade and finally getting her hands on the top prize in WWE, Green was not ready to give up the championship just yet. According to her husband, Matt Cardona, getting hurt was, in fact, a good thing.

During an interview with Busted Open Radio, Matt Cardona revealed that he loved Green’s promo and shared that he told his wife that getting hurt was indeed a good thing.

“Chelsea Green finally becoming the Women’s Champion. I told her this. I said, ‘I’m actually glad you got hurt because you were able to cut that heartfelt promo.’ Which I think makes her a made woman right now in WWE,” he said. [H/T WrestlePurists]

Following the promo, Nick Aldis gave Green 30 days to recover and defend the championship.
