On Lap 2 of the NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series race at Kansas Speedway, Carson Kvapil found himself in the air and flipping in a violent wreck. The caution came out early at Kansas, and as the broadcast was looking at one incident, Kvapil was sent flying.
Carson Kvapil started on the pole for today’s NASCAR O’Reilly Series race. He was going to be in a great position to compete for his first career win. Now, he’s probably thinking he’s lucky to walk away from this incident.

NASCAR is clearing the track. Thankfully, Kvapil walked away from the wreck. A red flag lasted for 12 minutes.
You hate to see a driver flip like that. Every time a car goes up in the air, it is a hold your breath moment for fans and teams at the track, not to mention the driver going through it all.
Flips at intermediate tracks are more rare than they are at superspeedways, but it is still a risk. Kvapil has been working hard, racing for multiple teams this season at JR Motorsports and DGM Racing. A lot of people are high on his talents and what he can do in a car.

Perhaps this opens the door for another young driver to get a career first win? Corey Day is going to be in control as the race continues in the first stage. We will see if Day can get the job done after having so many strong runs in the early season.
