Hocevar eventually stopped his car by bumping into the outside wall, nose first, before doing a burnout in front of the fans.

Hocevar’s height (6-foot-4) helped him pull it off, as did the wide spaces of the Talladega tri-oval. (Good thing he didn’t earn his first win at Bristol or Dover.)

Hocevar’s budding personality has made him a fan favorite, as has his aggressive driving style. Aggression on pack-racing tracks like Talladega is a positive, though he spent the final 30 laps near the front managing the two racing lines.
