WWE set the wheels in motion for his return when Danhausen began his science experiment on SmackDown after Backlash. The face-painted star is also hiding a mystery figure under a cloak, which many fans have linked to the Lone Wolf.
Baron Corbin is currently one-half of the MLW World Tag Team Champions alongside Donovan Dijak. Although he hasn’t relinquished his gold, he is said to have fulfilled his obligations with some of the companies, including MLW.
There’s no official word on whether he has officially re-signed with the Stamford-based promotion.
He continues to play down rumors, as he should, to avoid his return being a worst-kept secret. Some people within the company are expecting him to come back “soon.” All signs point to his imminent return.
During a recent Q&A on Fightful Select, Sean Ross Sapp was asked about the possibility of Baron Corbin coming back to his old stomping ground.
The wrestling journalist said:
“Very likely. People in WWE were talking about it weeks ago. He finished up with MLW in Chattanooga, and they really seemed to love him there. I actually think he should have been given more opportunities outside of WWE, but I believe he’s headed there, contrary to him trying to throw people off the scent.”
JBL addresses Baron Corbin’s WWE return rumors
JBL, who briefly worked with Baron Corbin as his manager during his last run, reacted to his former client’s WWE return rumors on his Something To Wrestle podcast.
The Hall of Famer said he hopes the rumors of his return are true. JBL also praised Baron Corbin for his work on the independent circuit.
“I hope the rumors are true. I was hoping that Baron Corbin wouldn’t just retire and decide, ‘You know the heck with it, I’m done with wrestling,’ because I thought he had a lot to offer. And you see from what he’s done with MLW and what he’s done on the independents around—he does have a lot to offer. It’s hard to get over, you know very few guys can truly get over. Baron Corbin has gotten over, and guys like that are rare.”
Baron Corbin could be a welcoming addition to the roster, as he was described as a locker room favorite in his last run.
Will he show up at Clash in Italy on May 31, 2026? Only time will tell.
