Prior to NXT airing, WWE put on three dark matches, one of which saw several stars have big matches. Brooks Jensen faced Viktor Zanov. The match was progressing with Zanov showing quite some ability, but a kick by Jensen landed badly. This led to Zanov completely collapsing in the ring, and the referee immediately stopped things before it got worse, as per PWInsider.

He stopped the match, giving Jensen the win via referee stoppage, but the situation was not improving as it looked like Zanov had lost consciousness altogether. Shawn Michaels ran down to the ring, as did the medical team immediately. They wasted no time before checking on him and running tests. At this time the star came around and looked very angry, lunging towards the referee.

He went on to walk out on his own, but throughout the moment, he was swaying and looking like he was still not all there. The report said that the moment with the star lunging at the referee may have been in character, but everything else looked legitimate. The star seemed to have his bell rung and they decided to be cautious about all of it and end things instead of going on.

This is not the first match in which a WWE referee has had to step in and stop. The company has given the referees the right to call a match if it is required, with the “X” sign being designated as the signal.
