However, it turned out to be short-lived. On the May 18 episode of Monday Night RAW, as Oba Femi stood in the ring during his Open Challenge, The Beast Incarnate made a surprise return and completely decimated The Ruler with four consecutive F-5s. That return instantly reignited everything. The retirement arc, the SummerSlam rumors, and the question of who gets to retire The Beast.
According to reports by Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, the current plan is for Lesnar to officially retire at SummerSlam 2026 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, his home state. WrestleVotes Radio on Fightful has also confirmed that Lesnar is expected to continue working with WWE after Clash in Italy.
Oba Femi and Brock Lesnar are set to face off in a singles match at Clah in Italy. During the contract signing segment, The Ruler made it clear to Paul Heyman that he would kill The Beast this time during their clash and wants to retire Lesnar.
Now, another star, Gunther, has shown interest in retiring The Beast. During an interview with Rompipallone, The Ring General was asked if he’d be willing to retire Lesnar, and his answer was blunt. He said:
“If I get the chance, of course I’ll do it. Who would turn it down?”
For years, fans have speculated about a dream match between Gunther and Brock Lesnar. The Austrian star has also built a reputation for ending major runs as he retired Goldberg in July 2025, made John Cena tap out at Saturday Night’s Main Event in December, and forced AJ Styles to pass out in a sleeper hold at the Royal Rumble in Riyadh. Three legends in under a year, and Lesnar could be fourth and arguably the biggest name on that list.
Brock Lesnar on his WWE return following retirement at WrestleMania
During a promo ahead of his match at Clash in Italy, The Beast Incarnate spoke about the decision to retire at WrestleMania.
The star admitted that his loss to the former NXT Champion left him questioning whether he still belonged at the highest level. However, The Beast realized he was not ready to close the chapter on his in-ring career. That change of mind ultimately led to his comeback and renewed rivalry with The Ruler.
“I’ve had my share of a** whoopings over the years, but none quite like that, it was humbling. You beat my a** so bad I said ‘that’s it, I’m done’. But that doesn’t sit very well with me Oba. It’s not gonna end that way Oba Femi. Brock Lesnar can take an a** whooping, but can you? You’re gonna get your a** kicked by a humbled, retired beast. Brock Lesnar will conquer Oba Femi. I am gonna rule over Oba Femi,” he said.
It will be interesting to see who gets to retire Brock Lesnar from in-ring competition and who will come out victorious during the singles match at Clash in Italy.
