Wade Barrett is currently one of the Stamford-based promotion’s lead commentators on Friday Night SmackDown and NXT. Before transitioning to a commentary role in 2020, he enjoyed a successful in-ring career that included leading the Nexus faction, winning the Intercontinental Championship five times, and capturing the King of the Ring crown in 2015.

Wade Barrett reflected on his return to the NXT commentary desk, expressing his appreciation for the developmental brand after calling NXT Great American Bash.

The former Nexus leader reunited with Vic Joseph on commentary for the premium live event. Following the show, Barrett took to X to thank the promotion and praise the atmosphere inside the arena.

The message also included a playful jab at longtime broadcast partner Vic Joseph, continuing the light-hearted chemistry the two have built over the years.

“I bloody LOVE #NXT What an absolute treat to go back and call a couple of shows. The energy in that building is something else, and #NXTGAB was so good, even @VicJosephWWE couldn’t ruin my buzz tonight. Always an honour to back at the foundation of WWE. Thanks for having me,” wrote Wade Barrett.
