Speaking about the debut on his The Phenomenally Retro Podcast, AJ Styles praised the segment. He said:

“The thing is, Mike came out at the end of the match, where Tony is holding up the Heavyweight championship. Mike comes to the back, I said, ‘What’s up, bro? Good to see you. I hope you’re doing well. Where are we doing this? We’re doing this in TNA? Are we doing this here in NXT?’ He goes, ‘No dude, you don’t understand. I’m here now.’ I was like, ‘Oh wow. We got you.’ So it was pretty cool man. I’m looking forward to seeing what he’s going to do next.”

Newly signed WWE star Santana had previously fired shots at AEW

Santana did not have as good of a run in AEW as he had hoped.

The newly signed WWE star claimed that both he and Frankie Kazarian both had a terrible run in the Jacksonville-based promotion. He said:

“At one point we were in the same place, miserable as hell. We were at a place that tried to drain the passion out of what we love the most. And what did we do? We left that place, we bet on ourselves.”

Santana certainly has a lot of talent as a singles star. It remains to be seen what is next for him down the line in WWE.
