Things would come to a screeching halt, however, when McMahon was accused of s*xual harassment by multiple women in 2021. Despite court troubles, he continued to head WWE, but the final nail in the coffin came with the Janel Grant case, in which she accused the wrestling mogul of s*x trafficking and assault. The saga is still ongoing, with unpleasant details of McMahon and other WWE employees’ actions emerging as the case progressed. McMahon stepped down as CEO shortly after TKO took ownership of the company, and the creative process is run by McMahon’s son-in-law, Triple H, who has been under fire for his lack of creativity with booking, character building, and storytelling.

Despite Vince McMahon’s publicly known morally corrupt actions, fans are still clamoring to have him back in WWE, and it could happen sooner than one might think. Here are 3 reasons why.

#3. The Vince McMahon – Janel Grant lawsuit is being dismissed

Janel Grant made major allegations against McMahon, and once the details of their text exchanges and other incidents came to light, McMahon’s reputation was fully tarnished.

But now, it’s being reported that the court will be dismissing the lawsuit for the two parties to settle the matter through private arbitration. If this is the case, it won’t be too long before Vince McMahon makes a return in some way, shape, or form to WWE.

Even though fans are divided and aren’t able to forgive him for his actions, a sizeable portion of the fanbase has gone after Grant for first consenting with McMahon and doing his bidding after signing multiple NDA’s and taking hush money, but coming out to take advantage by playing the victim when she felt it was necessary for her. If Grant’s case is dismissed, fans will essentially move on and may not have any issues with Vince McMahon returning to WWE.

#2. There’s an ongoing power struggle in WWE

It was reported last year that there was an ongoing power struggle within the Stamford-based promotion. The Rock, who sits on the Board of Directors chair in TKO, historically is not known to get along well with current WWE CCO Triple H. Johnathan Coachman said last year on the Coach & Bro show that there was an internal power struggle going on and that he didn’t see Triple H being the CCO for over 18 months from June 2025 and said that the position would instead go to one of the Rock’s close friends, writer Brian Gewirtz.

With Vince McMahon back in the fray, things would be more centralised as they were before, and his seniority would help the top executives make concrete decisions of who would be running what.

#1. Low ticket sales for SummerSlam

While WWE has been doing well in terms of revenue, according to the company’s financial reports and tax filings, it has been struggling to move tickets for its top shows. WrestleMania 42 tickets were underselling, which led WWE and TKO to press the panic button and begin including celebrities in the WWE and World Title storylines.

They also started shelling out huge discounts for tickets just days before the event to try and move tickets faster. Eventually, WrestleMania 42 managed to cross the 50,000 mark in terms of ticket sales, but SummerSlam has been even worse so far for the company, with only over 20,000 tickets sold just two weeks before the event. It was announced this past Monday on RAW that there would be another discount code for tickets, clearly indicating that the numbers aren’t high enough, especially for one of WWE’s top 5 events of the year.

The WWE product is currently in a state where the majority of fans, especially casual viewers, don’t have much to chew on. There are very few storylines or feuds with actual intrigue and drama to grab the attention of the casual viewer, and very few new stars who are being pushed to superstar status for fans to get behind. The company has regularly been going for its most bankable and established stars in the main events for their PLEs, like Cody Rhodes, CM Punk, Roman Reigns, Randy Orton, etc., but these stars have already had multiple feuds between them over the years for fans to develop a reinvigorated interest in what’s happening.

If WWE is indeed in panic mode, the best person to turn to for them would be Vince McMahon, who, although far from perfect with his booking and storytelling, has the instincts to take risks and build new stars. If Vince McMahon does actually return to the WWE, it would leave a bitter taste in many people’s mouths and, despite everything he has been accused of doing, still get many WWE fans excited.
