Cody Rhodes and CM Punk teamed up together at Saturday Night’s Main Event at the Madison Square Garden in New York City. The two were set to face the team of Sami Zayn and Gunther with the stipulation being that if Zayn and Gunther win, they will get added to the Undisputed WWE title match at SummerSlam. Before the match started, Cody paid a subtle tribute to the Best in the World.
On last week’s SmackDown, it was announced that the American Nightmare will team up with his SummerSlam opponent Punk against the team of Sami Zayn and Gunther at Saturday Night’s Main Event. The match was made after the Ring General demanded a match for the Undisputed WWE title from Nick Aldis. On this past week’s episode of SmackDown, a brawl broke out during the main event bout between Cody and Gunther. Both teams brawled with each other to close the show this past week on the blue brand.
