One of the highlights of his main roster career was teaming with Butch (Pete Dunne) and Sheamus as part of The Brawling Brutes. After leaving the global juggernaut, he made a few appearances in TNA. His last match was against Moose on September 27, 2025, which was stopped abruptly after Holland suffered an injury.

The 38-year-old is returning to in-ring competition next week. Holland took to X to reflect on his comeback. The former WWE star penned an emotional message, expressing nervousness and excitement.

“A week today I’ll put my boots back on and wrestle in a match for the first time in 10 months I’m nervous, excited, anxious but I think it’s quite apt that I’ll be literally starting from scratch again wrestling at Butlins in the UK, which over the years has been somewhat a write of passage for many a British wrestler. In 10 months this business moves so fast and I’m definitely swimming against the tide of relevancy somewhat ( if I was ever relevant at all )………I’m rebuilding everything….the future is somewhat blurry but hopefully each road, twist and turn and each booking, each flight, each mini adventure takes me closer to where I should be. With that being said I’m most excited about the opportunity this brings to feel like a real professional wrestler. Traveling…making towns, learning and competing against faces new and old. I don’t have a plan or a goal, no pressure, no glitz, no glamour….just wrestling. Come What May,” he wrote.

Big E defends ex-WWE star Ridge Holland

In March 2022, Big E teamed up with Kofi Kingston to face Sheamus and Ridge Holland in a tag team match. During the action, E injured his neck after taking an overhead belly-to-belly suplex from Holland, which eventually forced the former New Day member to retire from in-ring competition.

During his appearance on INSIGHT with Chris Van Vliet, Big E defended Ridge Holland from the hate he received.

“It was pretty quickly. I don’t remember the exact timeline, but we ended up talking pretty quickly thereafter. He got a lot of hate, he got threats. On one end, I can understand a lot of people. I can appreciate the people who are supportive of me and who wanted to see me continue to wrestle, and felt like he was the reason that I couldn’t, but I know what I signed up for. I know things go awry. It was never malicious. It was never intentional. I felt for him and continued to feel for him,” E said.

Holland has apologized for the incident on multiple occasions.
