With SummerSlam 2026 approaching and the Undisputed WWE Championship once again becoming the focal point of The Bloodline’s ambitions, Sami Zayn has unexpectedly found himself back in the conversation.

That said, in this article, we look at three signs WWE could be preparing to reunite the former Honorary Uce with Roman Reigns’ family.

#3. Sami Zayn hinted at it on SmackDown

The biggest clue perhaps came during this week’s edition of SmackDown. During a promo segment with Cody Rhodes and Jey Uso, Sami Zayn made an interesting statement. He said that the Undisputed WWE Championship is “in the family” as far as he is concerned. This was after Jey revealed that he needed to bring the title back to The Bloodline.

It was a subtle line. However, WWE rarely includes dialogue like that without a reason. Sami has spent years distancing himself from Roman Reigns and The Bloodline after everything they put him through. Thus, hearing him refer to “the family” immediately caught fans’ attention. It wasn’t the language of someone who has completely moved on from that chapter of his career.

Instead, it sounded like someone who still feels emotionally connected to the group despite everything that happened.

Triple H has developed a reputation for rewarding attentive viewers with long-term storytelling. Small comments that initially seem insignificant often become major plot points months later. Thus, Sami’s remark could easily be one of those moments that gain more importance as SummerSlam draws closer.

Also, it is worth noting that WWE has never completely erased Sami Zayn’s Bloodline history. Commentary frequently references his time as the Honorary Uce whenever Roman Reigns or Jey Uso are involved. Thus, ensuring fans never forget that connection.

That history gives WWE a believable foundation to revisit the storyline instead of forcing an entirely new alliance.

#2. Roman Reigns wants the Undisputed WWE Championship to stay in The Bloodline

Roman Reigns made his intentions crystal clear before Night of Champions. The Tribal Chief has repeatedly emphasized that he wants the Undisputed WWE Championship to be part of The Bloodline. For Roman, the championship isn’t just another title. Perhaps it represents the Bloodline’s legacy, power, and dominance over the company.

That mindset could eventually bring Sami Zayn back into the fold. Although Zayn is not related to the Anoa’i family by blood, Roman himself once declared him the Honorary Uce. During Sami’s original Bloodline run, the OTC seemingly trusted him more than almost anyone else. He even placed The Underdog from the Underground in key situations that affected the faction’s future.

If Roman Reigns truly believes the championship should be in the family, then bringing Sami Zayn back into the group becomes a logical possibility. Rather than viewing Sami as an outsider, Roman could argue that he already earned his place years ago. Such a twist would create an interesting dynamic, especially since Zayn has matured considerably since leaving The Bloodline.

If that happens, instead of blindly following Roman Reigns, Sami would likely return on his own terms. Thus, creating a different version of the alliance fans saw in 2022.

Also, the move would strengthen Roman’s numbers heading into SummerSlam. Every dominant stable needs trustworthy allies, and despite their painful history, the OTC knows exactly what Sami is capable of when he’s fully committed to a cause.

#1. Jey Uso lost the No. 1 Contender’s Match on SmackDown

Last Friday on SmackDown, Cody Rhodes defeated Jey Uso to become the No. 1 contender for Sami Zayn’s Undisputed WWE Championship. Although Jey lost his opportunity, the result may have simply positioned him to influence the title match on RAW.

If Roman Reigns truly wants the Undisputed WWE Championship to remain in The Bloodline, Cody Rhodes may be the biggest obstacle. Given this, since Jey has lost his chances of winning the title, he could take matters into his own hands by interfering in the championship match and costing Cody the victory.

After Sami Zayn retains thanks to Jey’s interference, he could then repay the favor by rejoining The Bloodline. Hence, fulfilling Roman Reigns’ wish of bringing the Undisputed WWE Championship into The Bloodline.
