Without further ado, let’s get right into it!
#4. ESPN asked WWE to change a Triple H policy for Night of Champions 2026
ESPN is in full swing with its WWE partnership, and they are trying to do the best they can to ensure that fans get the most value for money. A known Triple H policy was that the “B-PLEs”, or any PLEs outside of WrestleMania, Royal Rumble, SummerSlam, and Survivor Series, would usually have five matches maximum. Some PLEs have had even fewer.
However, according to WrestleVotes Radio on Fightful Select, ESPN had a direct hand in ensuring that there were six matches at Night of Champions 2026. There appeared to be some compromise as the report stated that ESPN pushed for an additional two matches so subscribers to ESPN+ could get the most bang for their buck. The first hour was commercial-free, while the rest of the show was on the ESPN+ app. The report stated that the free first hour is expected to be a staple of PLEs until later this year.
Fans will be happy if ESPN pushes for more matches because there has been some criticism around the Triple H policy of fewer matches on the so-called “B-PLEs”.
#3. Backstage divide regarding the future of The Vision
There seems to be some major confusion about what the future of The Vision is like. Bron Breakker lost his feud to Seth Rollins, who is finally done with the group he founded. That leaves Bron Breakker with Austin Theory, Logan Paul, and an injured Bronson Reed. We are yet to find out when Reed will be making his return to WWE television.
The question that fans have been asking is this: What’s next for The Vision now? Apparently, those in the creative team are asking the same question as well. Either way, a report from WrestleVotes Radio revealed that there are backstage creative issues with the Vision.
On one side, some believe that new members need to be added to refresh the faction, and the group itself needs to be reimagined. The other side believes that the group has fully run its course. Either way, Paul Heyman is expected to stay with Bron Breakker. This might be the best part of all of this. Breakker hasn’t yet reached the next level like many have expected of him. In that regard, Oba Femi seems to be much closer to becoming a World Champion despite only being on the main roster for half a year.
#2. Mike Santana is reportedly done with TNA
2-time TNA World Heavyweight Champion Mike Santana is reportedly done with the company already. He was positioned as being the face of the brand, but it was revealed that his contract was expiring in July. At Slammiversary, he lost the World Title to Nic Nemeth, fka Dolph Ziggler. That has seemingly marked the end of his run with the company.
According to PWInsider, Mike Santana has completed all his obligations with TNA and is officially done with the company. What’s more is that WWE is reportedly interested in signing him. He made appearances in NXT last year during the peak of the partnership with TNA, but now it looks like he will be following the path that stars like Jordynne Grace and Joe Hendry took.
It’ll be interesting to see what his position is in the company. If he goes to NXT, it might be a good thing as the brand is currently in the midst of a rebuild after major names like Oba Femi and Ricky Starks (to name a few) were called up to the main roster.
#1. El Hijo del Vikingo has suffered a bad knee injury
El Hijo de Vikingo suffered a knee injury ahead of his big match against EK Prosper on NXT. While it was written off as a knee injury on NXT TV, the reality is a little bit more unfortunate.
The highly-acclaimed AAA star has reportedly suffered a bad swollen knee, as per a report from False Finish. However, it was confirmed by PWInsider that not only was the injury to his knee, but they gave an update stating that WWE conducted an MRI scan to see how bad it is, and they are now awaiting results.
This is really unfortunate because he is the current AAA Latin American Champion and was set to put the title on the line in WWE NXT. He will be featured this week on SmackDown, which was pre-taped. Also, this is his third or fourth knee injury in a few years, which is very unfortunate.
