But over a decade ago, she was a victim of domestic violence during her relationship with a fellow wrestler. During an appearance on What’s Your Story? with Steph McMahon, she opened up on going to therapy and revealed what led her down that road.

She said she moved to Orlando after meeting her ex-boyfriend, and at first things were great when they started living together. However, she said it started to go downhill from there, and she was kept isolated. She said her best friend helped her out before she went to therapy.

“What led me to go into therapy was it was a violent relationship, and it was hard because, like, it’s to the point now it’s been long enough and I’ve been doing therapy long enough where, like, everything happens for a reason. I learned a lot from it, and I forgive everybody,” she said.

During the interview, Michin was visibly emotional and struggled to get her words out. She then talked about what led to her being vocal about the abuse she went through.

“It sucked at the time; well it sucks all around. But it’s one of those things; when it was happening to me, what made me want to be vocal about it and tell my story was when I would go and open up to my fellow co-workers or anytime I have Shimmer, like, just kind of breakd own and like it was so much pressure at home that once I left, like, I just couldn’t help but break down,” she added.

She revealed that she once sent a fan mail to WWE, writing about how much she hated Stephanie McMahon. Michin said she didn’t remember what she wrote exactly in the “hate letter” but admitted that it wasn’t nice.

During the Attitude Era, Stephanie McMahon feuded with popular WWE stars like The Rock and Stone Cold Steve Austin, which often made her public enemy number one.
