“The biggest thing that I look for is heart. I look at Ilja, for example. Ilja has so much heart; he pours himself onto the mat, he’s so driven, so hungry, and so passionate about being his very best. I love how he fights for his spot in The Dungeon when he doesn’t have to prove that to me at all,” she said.

Despite receiving praise from peers and veterans, Dragunov is reportedly not considered a top guy in the company. It remains to be seen what the future holds for the Russian star.

Trick Williams credits Ilja Dragunov for his in-ring improvement

While speaking to Sports Illustrated, Trick Williams heaped praise on Dragunov. The United States Champion recalled his series of matches against The Mad Dragon and credited the Russian star for pushing him to the next level.

“I gotta say Ilja Dragunov man. I just happened to go back and watch those matches. Vengeance Day, the same day Melo turned on me and everything like that. And man, every single match I’ve had with Ilja Dragunov is just phenomenal. He pulled out a side of Trick Williams that I didn’t even know existed. You literally just in the ring and you going to fight. He demands that, and that’s what I needed to take my career to the next level,” he said.

Dragunov is a former United States Champion himself. It will be interesting to see if the Russian star comes face-to-face with his former rival, Trick Williams, again on the main roster, now that the latter has the US Title.
