In this article, let’s discuss five things WWE subtly told us during the latest episode of Monday Night RAW.
#5. Gunther vs. Nick Aldis will happen at SummerSlam 2026
Nick Aldis appeared on the red brand this week and was involved in multiple backstage segments. When Gunther assaulted Cody Rhodes, Adam Pearce confronted The Ring General.
However, Aldis soon stepped in, and Gunther mocked the SmackDown General Manager for failing both in his in-ring career and now as an authority figure. Although Pearce managed to keep them apart, this development suggests that WWE is planning a Gunther vs. Nick Aldis match at the Biggest Party of the Summer.
Pointing out Aldis’ in-ring career clearly indicates that WWE is teasing his potential in-ring debut in the TKO-led promotion.
#4. WWE will revisit the Gunther-Cody Rhodes storyline down the road
Originally, Cody Rhodes was set to face Sami Zayn for the Undisputed WWE Championship.
In the opening segment of the red brand, Gunther attacked the American Nightmare. As a result, The American Nightmare failed to receive medical clearance to compete in the main event.
The Ring General’s attack on The Prodigal Son subtly confirms that the company plans to revisit the Gunther vs. Cody Rhodes feud down the road. As for SummerSlam, the company has distinct plans for both stars.
#3. Paul Heyman is leaving the Vision sooner rather than later
The Vision is again the World Tag Team Champion on Monday Night RAW. Austin Theory and Bron Breakker dethroned The Street Profits to win. This happened after Maxxine Dupri low-blowed Angelo Dawkins and helped the A-Town Down star.
Following their victory, Paul Heyman confronted The Vision in a backstage segment. The Advocate called it the ‘first step.’ When Theory appreciated Heyman’s praise, the Hall of Famer clarified that he was referring to Maxxine Dupri.
This confirms that things are still not right between The Vision and Paul Heyman, and The Oracle will likely leave the heel faction sooner rather than later.
#2. Sami Zayn’s push is over
Sami Zayn won the Undisputed Championship at Night of Champions 2026. However, his dream title run ended just nine days later when CM Punk dethroned him as champion.
Zayn losing the title so quickly proves that the former Honorary Uce’s push in WWE is already over. It is unlikely that Sami will receive a rematch for the World Title anytime soon. If the Triple H-led promotion had planned to push him as a main-event star, he might have at least held the title until SummerSlam 2026.
#1. CM Punk vs. Cody Rhodes set for SummerSlam
As Cody Rhodes failed to cash in on his Undisputed Title opportunity on the red brand, it is clear that he will now target CM Punk to win the title.
With SummerSlam on the horizon, it appears the the company plans to book Rhodes vs. Punk for the Biggest Party of the Summer.
WWE already teased this feud on RAW after WrestleMania 42. With the Voice of the Voiceless winning the gold, this subtly confirms that the company is moving forward with this blockbuster showdown for the upcoming premium live event.
