Having said this, let’s take a look at five superstars who WWE must push into the title picture immediately after The Showcase of the Immortals:
#5. Ivy Nile – Women’s Intercontinental Championship
Since the inception of the Women’s Intercontinental Championship, the title has been a workhorse belt.
Currently held by AJ Lee, who is set to defend the title against Becky Lynch at WrestleMania 42, the division likely needs a physical powerhouse to challenge for the belt after the upcoming PLE. With this in mind, the ideal superstar to fit into this role is Ivy Nile.
The Pitbull of the women’s division has spent the last year proving she is more than just an intimidating physical specimen. Nile possesses a legitimate background in combat sports that also helps bring a sense of realism to the ring.
A post-WrestleMania storyline featuring Lee or Lynch’s experienced veteran skills against Nile’s relentless pressure could revitalize the women’s mid-card division on RAW.
#4. Aleister Black – Undisputed WWE Championship
The WWE Universe erupted when Aleister Black made his surprise return to SmackDown last year. After a brutal feud with Damian Priest, Black has seemingly re-established himself as an enigmatic and dangerous force on the blue brand.
Cody Rhodes is set to defend the Undisputed WWE Championship against Randy Orton in the main event of WrestleMania Night One. The winner of this match could need fresh challengers for the title. That’s where Aleister Black could come into play.
Black is a psychological strategist, and his persona could be truly worthy of a main-event program. Introducing the star into the Undisputed WWE Title picture would add a fresh, supernatural-inspired dynamic to the storyline and must be considered by the Stamford-based promotion.
#3. Finn Balor – Intercontinental Championship
The WWE Universe will see the return of Finn Balor’s alter ego: The Demon at WrestleMania 42. However, the man behind the gimmick remains one of the most underutilized tactical geniuses on the roster.
After being ousted from The Judgment Day and turning babyface, many believe it’s time for WWE to put The Prince back in the Intercontinental Championship picture. After the IC Title Six-Pack Ladder Match at ‘Mania, and a likely victory for The Demon over Dominik Mysterio, Balor should be made the number-one contender for the belt.
Since it seems like the creative team has yet to consider booking Balor to regain the world title, they should at least have him win the Intercontinental Championship to cement his return to singles competition.
#2. Lyra Valkyria – Women’s World Championship
Lyra Valkyria made history as the inaugural Women’s Intercontinental Champion. However, she could do with a major push to the world title scene. At WrestleMania 42, she and Baley are set to face three other tag teams in a high-stakes Fatal Four-Way match for the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship.
If Valkyria and Bayley fail to capture the tag team gold in Las Vegas, the path is clear. The disappointment should fuel a competitive fire in Valkyria, leading her to break away from tagging with The Role Model. This could then pursue the Women’s World Championship.
Lyra Valkyria could then challenge either Stephanie Vaquer or Liv Morgan for the world title. Alternatively, she could be booked to win the Women’s Money in the Bank Ladder Match and successfully cash in on the champion.
#1. Kiana James – Women’s United States Championship
For months, the duo of Giulia and Kiana James has arguably dominated the SmackDown women’s roster. While their alliance was built on mutual respect and shared dominance, the shadow of Giulia’s Women’s United States Championship might have grown too large to ignore.
James is a polished, corporate-style villain who many believe has the aura of a champion written all over her. However, it looks like she will never reach her peak while playing second fiddle to The Beautiful Madness.
To push Kiana James into the title picture, WWE must pull the trigger on the split, perhaps with James turning on Giulia. Having the 28-year-old star cite that she is the brains behind the operation would create the most compelling rivalry in the women’s division for the summer.
Ending the alliance would allow Kiana James to pursue the Women’s US Title not just as a challenger, but as a top-tier heel who can carry the brand.
