With that in mind, here are five signs that The Great One may not be returning to WWE for WrestleMania 43.

#5. The Rock has already shown that he is comfortable staying away

Perhaps the clearest sign is The Rock’s recent willingness to stay away from WWE despite the opportunities to appear.

He was absent from WrestleMania 41, despite months of speculation about his involvement. Reports at the time noted that he wanted the spotlight to remain on WWE’s current wrestlers rather than taking it away from them.

There have been reports and speculation about a major WrestleMania 43 offer, while other reports have suggested that The Rock’s involvement remains uncertain. The upcoming ‘Mania being held in Saudi Arabia could certainly make the event attractive to The Rock, especially given the huge international audience and potential financial incentives. But an attractive opportunity is not the same thing as a confirmed return.

#4. WWE has continued moving The Bloodline story forward without him

Another major point is that WWE doesn’t need The Rock to keep The Bloodline saga moving.

Roman Reigns remains one of WWE’s central figures, while Jey Uso, Solo Sikoa, and other members of the family continue to have their own stories. The current direction has focused heavily on Reigns’ championship situation and the evolving relationships within the family.

This is important because The Bloodline was once the most obvious vehicle for bringing him back. If WWE can continue developing the faction’s story without The Final Boss, there may be less creative pressure to bring him back specifically for WrestleMania 43.

#3. Exploring a music career

The Rock’s growing interest in music is perhaps the most unexpected development in The Final Boss.

He recently revealed that he is seriously exploring a career in music, particularly in country and old-school soul. He has even worked on new material, including a song called “Your Dad” co-written with singer Iam Tongi.

He has always had multiple entertainment interests competing for his attention. If music becomes another serious professional commitment, wrestling could move further down his list of priorities. Rather than returning to WWE for another lengthy storyline, he may prefer to focus on exploring this new creative path.

#2. A busy movie schedule

Hollywood remains one of the biggest obstacles to another full-fledged WWE return. The Rock continues to have a packed schedule outside wrestling, with major movie commitments and other entertainment projects competing for his time. In recent developments, it is said that he is scheduled to film the final installment of the “Fast & Furious” movie in December this year.

That said, the timing could make a traditional WrestleMania difficult. WWE typically needs months to properly establish a major storyline, particularly when the potential match involves one of the biggest stars in company history.

He could obviously film around a wrestling appearance if the circumstances were right. But his Hollywood commitments make it increasingly difficult to assume he’ll clear his schedule for another match specifically at WrestleMania 43.

#1. Roman Reigns snubbed him during a promo

One of the biggest signs came when Roman Reigns seemingly moved forward without mentioning The Rock during a promo on Monday Night RAW.

Fans might recall that back in June, Reigns delivered a promo on the Red Brand in which fans expected The Final Boss to potentially come up, especially given the complicated history and The Bloodline’s connection to both Superstars. Instead, Reigns did not mention his famous cousin. The omission was notable enough to generate discussion among wrestling fans and media outlets.

That does not necessarily mean that WWE has completely abandoned plans for The Final Boss. However, if the company was actively building toward a major Roman Reigns-The Rock confrontation at WrestleMania 43, mentioning their history could have been an easy way to plant another seed. Instead, Reigns’ story has continued to develop around other members of The Bloodline and his current WWE World Heavyweight Championship run.

For now, the WWE Universe should probably treat a Rock appearance at WrestleMania 43 as a possibility rather than an expectation. If that changes, WWE will no doubt turn it into one of the biggest stories in wrestling.
