Another treat for the fans this year was seeing a dream match between Randy Orton and Cody Rhodes at the Granddaddy of them All, while many still think that there was something, and they indeed had so much left to showcase in the future.
The Oba Femi vs. Brock Lesnar match was also a fantasy bout; fans and critics talked about it long before it came into reality. The year has just started, and fans should tighten their belts as more dream matches are on the way this year.
Here are five blockbuster WWE matches that could be in the books for 2026:
#5. CM Punk vs. Cody Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE Championship
There have been rumors about Rhodes vs. Punk being booked for SummerSlam 2026 for a long time. Now that Best in the World has shaken the entire timeline by winning the title, Cody Rhodes is still the rightful number one contender, as he beat Jey Uso to earn his spot and was only replaced from the match on RAW against Sami Zayn, as he was medically cleared after Gunther attacked him backstage.
Everything points to Punk vs. Rhodes being close to being booked for SummerSlam 2026. Their match has been one of those bouts fans have been asking for since both The Best in the World and The American Nightmare were in the Stamford-based promotion.
#4. Randy Orton vs. CM Punk
If CM Punk manages to survive Cody Rhodes, he would need another opponent to challenge him for his title, and this could be the perfect time for The Viper to return.
Orton was chasing the gold before he lost to Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania 42. Following the match, The Apex Predator brutally attacked the Prodigal Son, and since then, he has been absent from WWE television.
Heel Randy Orton going all-in to capture the Undisputed WWE Championship in 2026 would be classic. Everyone would love to watch, and this match has a likely chance to happen this year.
#3. Gunther vs. Nick Aldis
WWE has been planting seeds for SmackDown’s general manager, Nick Aldis, to make his in-ring debut in the World Wrestling Entertainment.
Fans saw tensions brewing between Aldis and Gunther at the Night of Champions 2026, where, following Sami Zayn’s massive win against him and Cody Rhodes for the Undisputed Championship.
The Ring General rushed backstage and got into a heated altercation with the General Manager, which turned physical, with both men pushing each other. All the tension hints at Nick potentially making his in-ring debut against The Career K*ller at the Biggest Part of Summer.
#2. Jacob Fatu vs. Oba Femi
Oba Femi won the WWE King of the Ring tournament and had his choice to compete for the title of his choice between the Undisputed Championship and the World Heavyweight Title, and it looked like he was going to pick Roman Reigns as his opponent, but things took a turn when Brock Lesnar attacked The Ruler, setting their trilogy match at SummerSlam 2026.
Femi kept his title shot for the future to settle business with Lesnar at the Biggest Party of the Summer, where the two will collide in a Hell in a Cell match.
After finishing business with Lesnar, he would jump in line to get a title shot against the champion of the RAW brand, Roman Reigns, but before going through the Tribal Chief, he would have to go through his new Bloodline and especially the Samoan Werewolf.
A match between Jacob Fatu and Oba Femi would do wonders, and fans could see this match by the end of this year.
#1. Roman Reigns vs. Oba Femi
If The Ruler overcomes The Bloodline, he will finally get to face the final boss, in the face of Roman Reigns, for the World Heavyweight Championship.
Two could easily headline any card and make it even bigger. WWE could book this match for Survivor Series 2026 and end the year with a shocker, where The Ruler could end Reigns’ title reign, serving fans one of the biggest shocks.
