Heading into his WrestleMania 42 match against Trick Williams, Zayn showed some heelish tendencies, and since losing the US title, his descent into a bad guy has accelerated.

While he is yet to fully embrace the character change, it turns out he pushed against the idea of turning into a traditional heel straightaway. During the Self Made Sessions, Ibou of Self Made Pro revealed that the Canadian star didn’t want to turn heel. In fact, he argued that his relationship with fans was evolving and he wasn’t a bad guy.

“He didn’t really want to turn heel, and he argued to creative, like, ‘Hey, why don’t we tell a nuanced story here?’ Because he told them, ‘I don’t think I’m a bad guy. I feel like my relationship with the fans is evolving, but I’m not necessarily a bad guy,'” it was reported.

Zayn’s antics on SmackDown, such as beating up the Gingerbread Man, sneak attacking Trick Williams, and being aggressive, are all pointing to a heel turn, but he has continued to publicly deny he is a full-fledged bad guy.

Sami Zayn said he is closer to the end of his WWE career

Sami Zayn’s in-ring career has spanned over two decades, and he has been a part of WWE since 2013.

Now, the former Intercontinental champion feels he is in the final leg of his wrestling career. Speaking to Witty Whittier, he showed gratitude for his longevity in the business before mentioning that he is closer to the end of his time in the ring than the beginning.

He also stopped just short of mentioning how long he exactly plans to keep on wrestling but hinted it might not be for long. Before coming to WWE, Zayn made his name on the independents and competed for promotions like Ring of Honor, PWG, Dragon Gate, and Chikara.
