The former Jeff Cobb’s WWE run lasted less than a year, while Tonga Loa’s second tenure in the global juggernaut ended after two years. Loa returned at Backlash France in 2024, assisting Sikoa and Tama against Randy Orton and Kevin Owens.
Neither of their careers ever truly took off in the Stamford-based promotion, and now they are gone. This leaves Tama Tonga without a tag team partner, as he and Tonga Loa used to team up on a regular basis. Following the release of the 42-year-old, The Good Bad Guy may need a new tag team partner.
In this listicle, we will look at four WWE Superstars who could team up with Tama Tonga after Tonga Loa’s departure.
#4. Shinsuke Nakamura
Tama Tonga has been going through an interesting character change. He has been taking a stand against Solo Sikoa’s questionable decisions, and it all started after Shinsuke Nakamura kept provoking Tama to leave the MFTs and step out of Solo’s shadow.
While Tama is still with the heel faction, things may have to change after the group lost two members. The Good Bad Guy could finally split from the MFTs and join forces with The King of Strong Style.
Nakamura doesn’t have any direction currently, so a tag team with Tama Tonga could allow the Japanese legend to feature on television more.
#3. Solo Sikoa
The relationship between Solo Sikoa and Tama Tonga has been fractured as of late, as Tama has been having quite a few disagreements with the MFT’s leader. However, now that the group has lost a lot of its strength after JC Mateo and Tonga Loa’s departures, Sikoa and company may decide to get on the same page.
Sikoa and Tama could sort out their issues and join forces as a tag team. Their first goal may be to bring the WWE Tag Team Championship back to the stable. A redemption arc for Sikoa would be an intriguing storyline, and it would give The Street Champion’s character a new direction to explore.
#2. Royce Keys
Royce Keys has been having issues with the MFTs lately. He eliminated Talla Tonga last to win the 2026 Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal a few weeks ago. Last week, Keys reunited with his old friend, Jacob Fatu, but he was taken out by Talla and Sikoa.
The former Powerhouse Hobbs has been building momentum in WWE. Since Tama Tonga is going through a character change, he might decide to help Keys against the MFTs. The former NJPW star may not appreciate Sikoa and Talla targeting Keys, and could take a stand against it.
Keys and Tama could join forces to take on Solo Sikoa and Talla Tonga. The duo could even continue their partnership, potentially turning into an official tag team. It would give both of them a solid direction and give the SmackDown tag team division a much-needed boost.
Damian Priest and R-Truth are the current WWE Tag Team Champions, but the duo doesn’t have established challengers who could pose a threat to their reign. A team of Tama Tonga and Royce Keys could solve this problem for the blue brand’s show.
#1. WWE veteran Finn Balor
Finn Balor is currently on RAW, where he is involved with his former faction, The Judgment Day. The Prince was kicked out of the group ahead of WrestleMania 42 after a disagreement with Dominik Mysterio. Balor, in his Demon persona, defeated Dominik in a Street Fight at The Show of Shows.
However, the match did not conclude the rivalry, as the Irish star is still at odds with the heel group. Balor could receive help from an old friend in Tama Tonga to counter The Judgment Day. Finn and Tama were the founding members of the iconic faction, The Bullet Club.
Following Tonga Loa’s release, The Good Bad Guy could decide to part ways with the MFTs and move to RAW, where he may reunite with Finn Balor. The Judgment Day currently has the numbers advantage over Balor, something that would be neutralized if Tama aligns with the Irish star.
Due to their storied history, a potential team of Tama Tonga and Finn Balor could become a force to be reckoned with on WWE RAW.
