However, things took a turn last week when Jade Cargill made a surprise return, cost Rhea Ripley and her team a match against The Fatal Influence, and attacked Ripley, sending a clear message that their feud is far from over.
This week, while Cargill and crew were on the show, they targeted Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss, who teamed up with Ripley last week, yet Mami no-showed on Friday Night SmackDown.
CharLexa collided with Big Jade’s faction mates, B-Fab and Michin, in a tag team match tonight. The bout was slipping in favor of the former Women’s Tag Team Champions. This caused The Storm to interfere and attack the babyface team, leading the referee to call it off in a DQ.
After the controversial end of the tag team bout. In a backstage segment, The Nature Girl was visibly upset about the ex-Judgment Day member’s absence from the show when they needed her the most.
Also, WWE officially announced a six-woman tag team match between Charlotte, Alexa & Rhea vs. Jade Cargill, Michin & B-Fab for the upcoming Saturday Night’s Main Event.
The fans are also wondering, as The Queen does, why The Nightmare wasn’t there on the blue brand when their match was announced.
In this article, we will explore three potential reasons why Mami was missing from the May 15 episode of the Blue Brand.
#3. Personal Reasons
The Nutcracker is one of the workhorses in the Stamford-based promotion, constantly grinding back & forth each week, competing in weekly shows, premium live events, and even live shows to earn the position of a main-event star and build a massive fan following.
However, she missed tonight’s episode. There is a chance that Rhea Ripley might have something personal that prevented her from appearing at the May 15 episode of Friday Night SmackDown.
#2. Selling last week’s attack on WWE SmackDown
Last week on the Friday Night Show, Rhea Ripley teamed with Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss to go against the newest members on the blue brand, The Fatal Influence (Jacy Jayne, Fallon Henley, and Lainey Reid).
The dominant NXT superstars have had an impactful run since their arrival on the blue brand show. Despite being a steady crew, they were quietly struggling against Team Ripley.
However, toward the end of their tag team match, Jade Cargill made her jaw-dropping return and pulled Rhea’s leg to attack her. This gave Jayne a perfect opening to capitalize, and she managed to pin Little Miss Bliss for yet another big win.
The chaos didn’t end there, as The Storm hopped inside the ring, and it looked like she was going to attack Bliss, lying on the canvas. Charlotte Flair jumped in to save her factionmate but was stopped and attacked by Michin and B-Fab. Rhea Ripley also jumped in to save CharLexa, but was caught in the number games and was attacked brutally.
Therefore, to sell the attack from last week by Jade and her heel crew, Ripley may have taken off tonight’s episode of the Friday Night SmackDown.
#1. Issues with Charlotte Flair
While The Queen and WWE Women’s Titleholder are set to team up to take the common enemies out at the 2026 WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event, the World Wrestling Entertainment has been building tensions between Flair and Ripley, laying seeds for their future Mania trilogy.
Flair and the Aussie champion share a long history; the two have competed twice at the Showcase of the Immortals. First at WWE WrestleMania 36 in a singles match with The Queen, winning the bout to capture the NXT Women’s Championship.
Two collided for the second time at WrestleMania 39 with the SmackDown Women’s Championship on the line, and this time, Mami managed to beat Flair.
Thus, the 29-year-old star and Ric Flair have a one-and-one Mania record, and next year’s Granddaddy of Them All could be a perfect platform for two powerhouses to settle their long-standing Show of Shows feud.
That being said, the pointers above are speculative, and nothing has been confirmed as of now. It will be interesting to see what plans Triple H and his WWE creative team have in store for WWE Women’s Champion The Nightmare in the coming weeks.
