The show went off-air with Randy Orton sitting in the chair, holding the title, as the camera panned to his face, giving fans a glimpse of his 2009 heel Viper persona. The Apex Predator has jeopardized his main-event match against Cody after the brutal attack. This is a massive breach of WWE’s rulebook.
In this article, we explore three punishments Triple H might impose on Orton for jeopardizing the well-being of their Undisputed Champion.
#3. Suspend him for weeks
Following the brutal attack on Cody Rhodes tonight on the blue brand, Triple H might step in and make a rare appearance on SmackDown next week.
The Game could call out Orton, impose a two-week suspension, and also levy a hefty fine on his former faction mate, further intensifying his heel persona, as he could sneak attack The American Nightmare on the blue brand.
#2. Take him out of the title match
The Viper has punched his ticket to WrestleMania 42 and earned a shot at the Undisputed WWE Championship by winning the Men’s Elimination Chamber match, defeating five other top contenders, including Cody Rhodes. The latter captured the title the week after the PLE on SmackDown, beating Drew McIntyre.
However, after The Apex Predator crossed every line, putting hands on General Manager Nick Aldis, risking Rhodes’ well-being, and also shoving Jelly Roll, CCO Triple H himself could confront Orton and pull him off his title match against Rhodes.
This would escalate their feud even further. Also, The American Nightmare might vow to face Orton and seek revenge for his betrayal.
#1. The Game may fire the WWE legend
The Apex Predator’s actions could have serious consequences, especially with WrestleMania 42 approaching. Triple H might publicly issue a serious statement about the fatal incident on Friday Night SmackDown and take the drastic step of firing Orton, replacing him in the ‘Mania match against The Prodigal Son.
This could be a kayfabe firing, which could lead to Orton bringing back his legend killer persona and attacking Triple H, establishing his heel gimmick at the top, and returning in full-evil mode at ‘Mania 42.
That being said, the angle proposed above is purely speculation, and nothing has been confirmed so far. It will be interesting to see what plans Triple H and his creative team have in store for the Undisputed WWE Title saga next, after tonight’s bombshell.
