The Sounds dropped five of six games to the Gwinnett Stripers, the Atlanta Braves’ Triple-A affiliate. The team’s lone win came with a 6-3 victory on Thursday, as they were outscored 27-16 in the series.

Coleman Crow picked up the only win in a five-inning relief appearance, allowing three runs and striking out seven. Logan Henderson went 3 1/3 scoreless innings in his outing, and Garrett Stallings allowed one run across five innings in a pair of appearances.
Luis Lara was once again a bright spot offensively, leading the team with eight hits and swiping five bags in five tries. Greg Jones swiped four bags of his own, while Ramón Rodriguez picked up seven hits, including a pair of doubles, and Eddys Leonard knocked a pair of homers. Brock Wilken also got his first homer at Triple-A, though he went just 2-for-23 on the week (.087/.120/.261 line).

The Shuckers had a solid week, winning four of six against Pensacola to move over .500 for the season. The team ran wild this week, picking up 24 steals on 33 attempts (72.7% stolen base percentage) while slugging five homers and scoring 42 runs to Pensacola’s 22.

Blake Burke continued his hot start to the season with three more homers this week, giving him six just nine games into the season. Top prospect Jesús Made also stayed hot with nine hits this week, as he’s now hitting .359/.444/.564 for the season. The catching tandem of Darrien Miller and Matthew Wood combined to go 5-for-22 with an insane 15 walks compared to just one strikeout, adding a homer each, nine RBIs, and six runs. Dylan O’Rae also extended his hitting streak to eight games, adding six steals for the week.
Jaron DeBerry made a pair of starts, spanning 10 innings with two runs allowed and a team-high 11 strikeouts. Manuel Rodriguez also turned in a solid start, allowing one run and striking out five in 5 2/3 innings, while Tanner Gillis had the best bullpen appearance of the week with five scoreless frames, allowing just one hit and striking out four.

High-A Wisconsin Timber Rattlers (5-3)

The T-Rats took four of six at home this week, including a split of a doubleheader on Sunday. Top prospect Luis Peña turned in a solid week, batting over .500 with six RBIs, six runs, and three steals. Marco Dinges went 4-for-14 but added six walks, driving in a run and scoring four runs, while Juan Baez went 5-for-13 with four runs.
Braylon Owens went 7 1/3 innings across a pair of appearances on the mound, striking out 13 and allowing three runs, while Bryce Meccage tossed four scoreless frames with three strikeouts. Yorman Galindez picked up the only save this week, and Chandler Welch added three perfect innings with a pair of strikeouts.

Single-A Wilson Warbirds (3-6)

The Warbirds struggled against Salem this week, as they dropped five of six and were outscored 42-19 in the series. They now sit at 3-6 on the season, though they’ll head to Wilson, North Carolina for their inaugural home game later today.
It was another rough week offensively for Wilson, as José Anderson was one of the few bright spots, slugging the team’s only homer to go with three doubles as drove in six. Jadyn Fielder went 2-for-8 with a pair of steals, and no other player with at least five at-bats finished the week with an OPS over .700.
The pitching staff didn’t fare much better, but Jarrette Bonet was a bright spot for the Warbirds. Bonet went five scoreless innings in the team’s only win this week, allowing three hits and a pair of walks while striking out five. Joshua Quezada went 2 1/3 scoreless innings with four strikeouts in two relief appearances this week, and Miqueas Mercedes had a solid outing, going 4 1/3 innings with one run allowed and four strikeouts.

Player of the Week
There are a few standout choices here, including a few top prospects in Jesús Made, Luis Peña, Luis Lara, and Blake Burke. After Adam gave it to Lara a week ago, I’ll give it Peña this time around.
Peña hit .526/.565/.684 this week, leading the Rattlers with 10 hits, including a double and a triple. He brought home six and scored six runs of his own while also going a perfect 3-for-3 on stolen base attempts. Not a bad start to the season for MLB’s No. 23 prospect.
Play of the Week
José Anderson, one of the only bright spots for the Low-A Wilson Warbirds this week, had a sick swim move to get into second safely with a double and, more importantly, allow a run to score.
