Becky Lynch added one more accolade to her Hall-of-Fame-worthy resume on Saturday after winning the Women’s Intercontinental Championship at Money in the Bank. However, Lynch was unable to celebrate in peace after receiving a warning after the show.
Lynch has made things hell for Lyra Valkyria since they lost the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships on RAW after WrestleMania 41. She finally outsmarted her fellow Irishwoman by grabbing a handful of tights for the victory.
On the other hand, Naomi won the Money in the Bank contract to open the premium live event. The new Ms. MITB delivered a warning to every women’s champion in WWE, including Becky Lynch, who took a shot at her at the post-show press conference.
“This is coming from the Beckster? (laughs) Oh, baby, you better sleep with one eye open and watch your back too, because nobody with gold in this division is safe,” Naomi said. [24:04 – 24:23]
In the history of Money in the Bank, only one superstar has used his contract to cash in on a mid-card championship. Austin Theory unsuccessfully cashed in on Seth Rollins’ Intercontinental Championship in November 2022.
It will be interesting to see if Naomi goes after Becky Lynch or Zelina Vega or aims higher and targets IYO SKY or Tiffany Stratton.
What did Becky Lynch say about Naomi?
Before Naomi’s comments, a reporter brought up the possibility of a potential cash-in on Becky Lynch. The Man wasn’t afraid of it and even took a shot at the new Ms. Money in the Bank for walking out on her in May 2022.
Lynch added that she wasn’t thrilled about her daughter, Roux, cheering for Naomi during the MITB Ladder Match.
“You know what was the most hurtful thing is that tonight, my child watched the show live in the audience in the very front row for the first time. And you know who she wanted to see win that match? She wanted to see Naomi win that match. So I have a problem with that,” Lynch said. [18:39 – 19:00 in the video above]
Lynch also revealed that Roux didn’t like that the crowd inside the Intuit Dome was booing her mother.
