WWE doesn’t entertain talent when an athlete is accused of misconduct or any sort of allegation, and one star was suspended and later fired for major allegations against him. The former champion in question is Enzo Amore.
In 2017, Enzo Amore ruled the cruiserweight division as the Cruiserweight Champion of 205 Live. In 2018, Amore was accused of sexual assault and was under investigation by he Phoenix Police Department. The management suspended the champion and later fired him while he was the brand’s top name.
The allegations affected the two-time Cruiserweight Champion’s career severely, and he never returned to the Stamford-based promotion for another run. In an appearance on The John Rondi Show, the 38-year-old ex-WWE star recalled why he was first suspended and then fired from the company.
The incident happened during one of his rehearsals for the show when the tweet went viral. The two-time WWE Cruiserweight Champion met Mr. McMahon in his office and was suspended and sent home. The next day, he was fired due to the ongoing investigation, but he stated that McMahon didn’t want him gone.
“I didn’t even know that this [allegation tweet went viral] was happening. This was going viral. And I’m going through rehearsals, and people start looking at me… Next thing I know, I’m in Vince McMahon’s office, and he tells me, ‘Why didn’t you tell me?’ and I’m like, ‘Brother, I didn’t f**king know that this s**t was going crazy right now.’ So, he tells me you’ve got to go home, and I took the cruiserweigh title with me in a Gucci bag,” Amore said.
He added:
“Ultimately, it led to the next day getting a phone call from, at the time, Mark Carrano, who was the head of HR. He told me that some cooler heads did not prevail, meaning Vince McMahon. From my understanding, it wasn’t Vince that wanted me gone at that moment I was ixnayed, and I can’t even tell you the relief, man,” Amore said.
Enzo Amore was fired from WWE as champion
After the investigation occurred, the police department in Phoenix ceased the case due to insufficient evidence in May 2018. Unfortunately, Amore never returned to the company as a full-time performer. However, he was fired from the promotion when he was the Cruiserweight Champion, and the 38-year-old ex-WWE star has previously stated that he was proud of his work in the Stamford-based promotion.
