Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes made a blockbuster return to the company at WrestleMania 38. The American Nightmare had initially been released from the promotion in 2016, before he went on to establish himself on the independent circuit and become the global star he is today.
More than three years on since his return, fans are now beginning to grow tired of his character and are clamouring for him to turn heel. Cody’s been a face since his time in AEW, and fans want to see him turn to the dark side now after over six years.
WWE Hall of Famer Teddy Long revealed a simple storyline that could be used to turn Cody Rhodes heel, but requires his half-brother, Dustin Rhodes, to be a part of it. Long suggested that WWE can use the former Goldust if they can bring him over to the company and build a storyline around sibling rivalry and jealousy.
“He’s there if you need him. You can, you know what I mean? That’s family right there. So that’s so easy to do. You show the jealousy- “You know, I’ve hated you ever since, you know, I grew up with you. I just hadn’t been able to tell you, but now I can express myself. You know, my father, he’s not here to hear this, you know. Now, I can say it,” Long said.
Cody and Dustin were together in AEW when the company started, and the two brothers even wrestled on the first-ever AEW event, Double or Nothing 2019. Their match is still considered to be one of the best in the promotion’s history. While Cody left the All Elite promotion in 2022, Dustin remains a part of the company and has even stated in the past that he would not return to WWE.
