Cody Rhodes and Drew McIntyre are set to battle for the WWE Championship at Saturday Night’s Main Event on November 1. The two signed the contract for the title with an interesting stipulation, where Rhodes will lose the title if he gets disqualified or counted out.
Their rivalry has seemingly brought out a lot more of The American Nightmare’s aggressive side, and a WWE Hall of Famer has now offered his take on where the feud could go. Speaking on Busted Open, Mark Henry predicted Rhodes would eventually “embrace the dark side” and turn heel while making a Star Wars reference and comparing The Scottish Warrior to a ‘Sith Lord.’
“I really do feel like Cody is doing exactly what Drew said tonight. ‘You’re too giving, you’re trying your best to be the good guy but I know that there’s a bad guy in you.’ He’s [McIntyre] like the Sith Lord in Star Wars. He wants the dark side to come out of Cody and he wants to be the one to bring the dark side out. And I think it’s gonna happen,” said Henry.

Cody Rhodes called out for ‘backstage manipulation’ by his rival
The American Nightmare is in an interesting position on the babyface-heel spectrum. While Cody Rhodes remains a fan-favorite, he has been quite forward with his aggressive side over the past few weeks. His upcoming challenger, Drew McIntyre, accused the WWE Champion of backstage manipulation in an interview with SPORTbible:
“What he’s putting out there is just always best for the company. He believes it’s best for the company. That’s why he’s so convincing. Whatever he does, namely behind the scenes, to ensure he keeps the titles, like getting the referees in his corner or, after Wrestlepalooza, bashing me in the face with the title,” he said.
Cody Rhodes recently retained his title in an impromptu match on SmackDown by getting himself disqualified after hitting McIntyre with the belt. If he does the same at Saturday Night’s Main Event, he could end up losing the title.
