WWE condemns Gunther’s controversial actions “You happy with yourself?”

AJ Styles’ theme song hit, and the Philadelphia crowd shot to their feet with the hopes of seeing the once Face that Ran the Place. Instead, they got the Austrian powerhouse, poking fun at a man who could no longer fight or defend himself. WWE posted the footage today, deriding Gunther for his actions.

“You happy with yourself, [Gunther]?”

Gunther has ruined the fun of the WWE audience several times in the past year, between three retirement matches and ending Jey Uso’s World Heavyweight Title run soon after it began. And if Monday night was any indication, he doesn’t plan on ending the torture anytime soon.

Gunther brutalized Dragon Lee on WWE RAW

It wasn’t just taunting AJ Styles that drew the ire of fans and critics during Gunther’s RAW segment. The 38-year-old Superstar was confronted by Styles’ former World Tag Team Championship partner, Dragon Lee.

Lee and Gunther got into a brawl, which was going well for the luchador until Gunther cracked him in the skull with a ring bell. He wasn’t done there, however.

Gunther choked the life out of Dragon Lee. First, he trapped the former North American Champion in the sleeper on the floor. Then, after being pulled off of him, Gunther pounced again, pulling Lee up to the apron and choking him over the ropes, the victim’s legs hanging limp.
