WWE experienced a massive resurgence when Triple H took over the creative team in the summer of 2022. However, things looked grim before the change and the boost in ratings, as well as ticket sales.
While speaking on the November 1 edition of the Wrestling Observer Radio, veteran journalist Dave Meltzer revealed that he received a call from WWE executive Ed Cohen. He seemingly offered Meltzer a hefty compensation to join the Stamford-based promotion and help with the booking.
However, the journalist turned them down, claiming he had no interest in making the move. Meltzer also revealed that WWE reached out to Bryan Alvarez, also of the Wrestling Observer, through him, seemingly due to his humor and creativity. However, Alvarez didn’t take up the offer either.
Since moving to Netflix earlier this year, RAW has consistently been among the streaming giant’s top 10 most-watched shows worldwide.
Dave Meltzer provided a huge update about WWE WrestleMania 42 recently
Seth Rollins recently vacated the World Heavyweight Championship on RAW due to his shoulder injury. The Revolutionary is reportedly a doubt for WrestleMania 42, and there is a chance that he could miss the year’s biggest event as he recovers.
For this reason, the Stamford-based promotion reportedly decided to replace The Visionary with CM Punk, according to Dave Meltzer on the Wrestling Observer Newsletter. Punk was featured in the new videos and poster released for the Show of Shows.
The Second City Saint is set to compete for the World Heavyweight Championship against Jey Uso at Saturday Night’s Main Event in Salt Lake City on November 1. Fans expect him to beat the YEET Master for the title, and his being featured in promotional material for WrestleMania could mean he walks into the premium live event with the title.
Punk was joined by Roman Reigns, Cody Rhodes, Brock Lesnar, Paul Heyman, and Triple H in the poster for WrestleMania 42.
