It has been a tough week for FC Barcelona given the number of injuries they have had to deal with.

Starting from Fermin Lopez being sidelined for three weeks to Gavi and Joan Garcia undergoing surgeries, and Raphinha also getting put on the treatment tables, Hansi Flick has had a lot on his plate.

Piling on the misery, Mundo Deportivo now reports that Barcelona midfielder Marc Casado felt discomfort during training today and did not complete the preparatory session ahead of the Real Sociedad game as a precaution.

Flick’s coaching staff are monitoring the 22-year-old. The situation is being assessed but does not appear to be serious.

As such, the plan is to wait until tomorrow before deciding whether Casado will be included in the squad for the match against Real Sociedad. If any type of injury prevents him from playing, the club will make an official statement.

Casado has been in and out of the team this season, with Flick leaning towards the pair of Pedri and Frenkie de Jong. The La Masia graduate did start this week against Real Oviedo, but was taken off at half-time in favour of the Dutchman.

Given the mounting problems in the squad, the coaching staff are taking no risks, and if a player reports discomfort, the most prudent decision is to withdraw him for medical evaluation.

However, with Gavi unavailable and Marc Bernal recently returning from a lengthy absence, Barcelona need all their midfielders to be fit and available heading into some important matches.

As such, the La Liga champions will hope that Casado’s issue is nothing major and that he is fit and ready to face Real Sociedad tomorrow.

On the positive side, both Lamine Yamal and Alejandro Balde are expected to receive medical clearance in time for tomorrow’s match. The forward had been dealing with pubic discomfort, while the left-back was recovering from a thigh injury.
