Golf course architect David McLay Kidd on why Bandon Dunes, one of the most iconic courses in America, is the perfect fit for the U.S. Women’s Amateur.
SAN FRANCISCO — It’s time for the premier men’s amateur championship in the world.
The 2025 U.S. Amateur begins Monday at Olympic Club in San Francisco, where 312 of the top male amateurs from across the world will battle it out for the Havemeyer Trophy. Players will compete on Olympic Club’s Lake Course and Ocean Course in stroke play before the top 64 players battle it out at the Lake Course to determine a champion.
The field is loaded, including a majority of the top amateurs in the world.
Last year, Josele Ballester defeated Noah Kent 2 up at Hazeltine National in Chaska, Minnesota, to become the first Spaniard to win the U.S. Amateur.
