Odds to win the Premier League title in 2024

Following defeats for both Arsenal and Liverpool in Matchweek 32, Manchester City are in control of the Premier League title race. Arsenal fell to Aston Villa while Liverpool slumped to defeat against Crystal Palace, with both sides failing to find the back of the net in their losses.

With just six matches remaining in the Premier League season, Man City have taken a two-point lead at the top of the table, thanks to those aforementioned slips by the other two sides. While both Arsenal and Liverpool are within one swing back into the lead, it feels like a commanding lead for Pep Guardiola given his side’s resounding success in closing out titles in recent years.

All three clubs are still alive in European play, but they are all in peril of crashing out. Liverpool face a massive Europa League quarterfinal deficit against Atalanta after a 3-0 defeat last week, while Arsenal and Man City are both level on aggregate in their Champions League quarterfinal matchups. It means all three managers will have to find ways to rest key players while also keeping the levels high with the margins so razor-thin.

Remaining fixtures for Man City, Arsenal, and Liverpool

The 2023/24 Premier League title race will be decided in matches against other opponents, as the three clubs in the hunt with nine games to go no longer sport any fixtures against one another remaining on the calendar.

Common opponents for all three clubs amongst the final nine games include Aston Villa and Tottenham, both contenders for Champions League places, while defensively adept Wolves have matches against all three title challengers down the stretch. Man United, Fulham, Luton Town, Everton, and Crystal Palace are just some of the clubs on the list for two of the three, while Arsenal also have a game against Chelsea amidst their run-in.

Below are the fixtures for each club from Matchweek 31 on, plus any remaining postponed fixtures, now that all three clubs have no more remaining matches against one another on the schedule.

Of note, all three clubs had Matchweek 29 fixtures postponed due to conflicts with the FA Cup quarterfinals. Additionally, Man City have seen their Matchweek 34 fixture against Tottenham postponed due to their progression to the semifinals of the FA Cup, and as a result will hold a game in hand until that match is played just before the final game of the season.

For those of us hoping for a change in Premier League supremacy — oof. Big, big oof. Both Liverpool and Arsenal cracked on the same weekend, and with it their buffer between Man City and a record fourth straight Premier League title.

Sure, the lead is just two points, and there’s plenty of time for Pep Guardiola’s side to also fall short, but recent history has crafted a sudden inevitability around this title chase. Man City have a strong history of closing out the season on top, even as those behind them nip at their heels.

Last season felt over even before Man City officially took the lead, and now that they’re in front, it will take an uncharacteristic failure for them to fall short. Arsenal’s season-long defensive masterclass broke apart against Unai Emery and Aston Villa, while Liverpool’s barnburning attack came up short against Crystal Palace. Meanwhile, Man City keep rolling along even as Erling Haaland suffers through a goal scoring slump, as their squad is just simply deeper and more forgiving than any other in Europe.

This title race felt like the most exciting in years just one week ago — and now, it suddenly and abruptly feels over. Arsenal and Liverpool cannot drop any more points the rest of the way, and Man City will need to slip themselves, something they haven’t done in years.
