With the 2026 Alabama high school golf season getting underway, several Tuscaloosa-area players have already entered the conversation for preseason recognition. Now, fans have the opportunity to weigh in by voting for The 2026 Tuscaloosa News preseason golfer of the year.

The AHSAA season opened with first practice on Jan. 19 and competition beginning Feb. 5. The postseason starts with sectional tournaments on April 27-28, followed by sub-state play May 4-5 and the AHSAA State Golf Tournament from May 11-12. The AISA State Golf Tournament is also scheduled for May 4-5.

Below are the preseason golf player of the year candidates from the Tuscaloosa area. Nominees were selected by area coaches from our preseason players to watch list. Voting will remain open until noon Wednesday, Feb. 11.

2026 Tuscaloosa News preseason golfer of the year candidates

American Christian’s Andrew Turner (senior)

Why: A six-year varsity golfer, Turner has signed to play collegiately at High Point. He enters his senior season as the highest-ranked player in Tuscaloosa, currently ranked 14th in Alabama and 543rd nationally by Junior Golf Scoreboard. During the 2025 season, Turner won the Patriot Open, AHSAA Class 4A Section 2, Class 4A Sub-State and the SJGT Patton Kizzire Invitational, while also finishing runner-up at the Class 4A State Championship and third at the Alabama Boys State Junior Championship.

Fayette County’s Victoria Allison (senior)

Why: Allison has been named MVP of the WAC Tournament in each of the past two seasons and has led her team in low scores every year she has competed. Her scoring average has dropped by 10 strokes each season, and she already holds a post-high school playing offer, with additional schools expected to follow her progress this spring.

Northside’s Sawyer Galloway (sophomore)

Why: Galloway recorded the lowest scoring average for Northside across all competitions last season and was also the team’s lowest scorer at the sectional tournament. He enters the year after a strong freshman campaign and is expected to continue developing this season.

Sipsey Valley’s Britt Perdue (senior)

Why: Perdue qualified for the AHSAA Class 5A State Golf Tournament as a junior and finished 13th overall. He is committed to continue his golf career at Snead State Community College.

Tuscaloosa Academy’s Anna Christian Beeker (junior)

Why: Beeker is a returning member of Tuscaloosa Academy’s state championship team and brings a strong resume to the lineup. She won the AHSAA Individual Championship in 2023 and has finished in the top five at the state tournament in each of the past two seasons. Beeker has committed to play collegiately at Kentucky and has also recorded one AJGA Tour title along with multiple top-five finishes.
