Where is Jason Day from?

Jason Day is an Australian golfer, born in Beaudesert, a rural town on Queensland’s eastern coast.

Day later moved to the larger city of Rockhampton as a child and later attended Kooralbyn International School, about 40 miles south of Brisbane. This school is also known for its golf alumni, including former Masters champion Adam Scott.

Day’s father Alvin is Irish Australian and helped fuel Day’s early love of golf. At just six years old, Alvin enrolled Day as a junior member at the local golf club. He later died when Day was 12 years old.

Dening, Day’s mother, came to Australia from the Philippines. She died in 2022 after a long fight with lung cancer.

How many majors has Jason Day won?

Despite a flurry of second-place finishes, Day has won just one major event, the 2015 PGA Championship.

In terms of Masters performances, Day tied for second in 2011 and placed third in 2013. After failing to place higher than 30th from 2020 to 2024, Day tied for eighth in 2025.

What condition does Jason Day have?

Jason Day has vertigo, a condition that attacks one’s immune system and is mainly associated with severe dizziness. Day’s vertigo is stress-induced, brought on by a virus that attacks the inner ear.

When his vertigo resurfaced in 2023, Day admitted that the “competitive stress” of golf affected him on the green.

“When you put yourself under stressful conditions all the time, sooner or later your immune system gets compromised. I wasn’t eating as healthy as I should have, so I made some changes to my diet,” Day told PGA Tour’s Cameron Morfit in 2023.

In the past, Day has also endured chronic back pain, and withdrew from the Player Championship in 2025 due to an undisclosed illness.

How old is Jason Day?

Jason Day is 38 years old, but he’s been a pro golfer for longer than most his age. Day won his first PGA Tour-sanctioned event when he was just 19 years old.

After turning pro at just 18 years old, Day has been a pro golfer for over half of his life.
