The creativity of one Penn State superfan has earned him internet fame and a call with Nittany Lions coach James Franklin. Last weekend, one Penn State fan went the extra mile ahead of the team’s game against USC, and Franklin has now expressed his gratitude.

When the Trojans took the field at Memorial Coliseum on Saturday, they were followed closely by fan dressed head-to-toe in Nittany Lions gear. That fan, Jordan Mott, took advantage of a program at USC in which you can pay to run onto the field with the team.

In the video he shot, Mott waits for the Trojans to pass before gesturing to the Nittany Lions in the back and shouting, “Let’s go, boys!”

A few days after that video went viral, Mott received a FaceTime from Franklin himself. The Penn State coach admitted he was wondering what a Penn State fan was doing in the tunnel before the game.

“That was hilarious,” Franklin said. “It’s funny because I saw you. I’m busy, so I’m not really thinking about it, but I was like, ‘Why is there a Penn State fan down here?'”

Perhaps Mott should be credited for giving Penn State the extra juice it needed to get over the hump against USC. The Trojans held a 20-6 lead at halftime before the Nittany Lions stormed back to pull off a thrilling 33-30 win in overtime.
