Andy Sullivan, ranked 111th in the world, was preparing to hit out of a fairway bunker on the par-4 seventh hole at DLF Golf and Country Club during Thursday’s opening round of the Hero Indian Open. Right as he was preparing to make his strike, he made a quick glance back at his caddie before looking up, and out comes a dog.

Man’s best friend decided to take a stroll right outside the bunker between Sullivan and his target, forcing him to take a step back before quickly stepping back in to hit his shot. The dog, who seemed to be out on an afternoon stroll, didn’t pay any attention to Sullivan in the bunker and continued prancing his way across the fairway.
Dog distractions aside, Sullivan would go on to bogey the hole and sits at even par with the par-5 18th to finish come Friday after the first round was suspended due to darkness.
Freddy Schott paces the field after an opening 6-under 66 while Eugenio Chacarra is a shot back after Thursday. Akshay Bhatia, in his first pro appearance in India, struggled on the back nine, carding a 44 coming home in an opening 5-over 77.
