The third round of the 2025 Truist Championship offered a much better day for golf and a number of players took advantage of the improved conditions.

Formerly called the Wells Fargo Championship and normally staged at Quail Hollow Club in Charlotte, the Truist was moved for this one year because Quail Hollow hosts the PGA Championship next week.

Sepp Straka, Shane Lowry lead

For the third straight day, different conditions gave the Philadelphia Cricket Club’s Wissahickon Course a completely different feel.

Sepp Straka and Shane Lowry now lead the way at 14 under. Straka fired a 66 to get atop the leaderboard as he pursues his fourth PGA Tour title.

Although he won in January at the American Express, Straka knows the nerves will creep in during Sunday’s final round, because chances to win on the Tour are few and far between.

“You’re going to have them. You’re definitely going to have them. So you just — all you can do is try to focus on what you can control, and that is your target, try to hit your number, and try to make a good swing. That’s pretty much it,” Straka said. “You’re going to feel terrible while trying to do it, but that’s just part of it. That kind of makes it fun when you are able to pull it off.”

Lowry, meanwhile, hasn’t won an individual title since the 2019 Open Championship. He did win with Rory McIlroy at the Zurich Classic last year, however, and he feels his team partner in New Orleans has the proper mentality to follow.

“I just think you need to be persistent. You need to keep putting yourself there, and eventually it will happen. You look at Rory at the Masters a few weeks ago,” Lowry said. “Keep knocking on the door, and eventually you’ll go through it. I feel like I’ve done a good job of it this season, last season. It does get frustrating sometimes, but yeah, I’m in the final group tomorrow.

“I’ve played pretty good golf this year. I’m pretty happy with the way I’m playing this week, and I’m going to go out and give my best. If it’s good tomorrow, that will be great.”

Justin Thomas and Keith Mitchell are three shots back in a tie for third place.

Stay on top of all the scoring with the Truist Championship leaderboard.

Michael Kim was 7 over for the tournament when he withdrew from the Truist after the 12th hole during Saturday’s third round.

Justin Rose struggled to a 7-over 77 during the second round of play at the Philadelphia Cricket Club, pushing him to the very bottom of the leaderboard. His Saturday tee time was scheduled for 8:10 a.m.

Rose was forced to withdraw from the event, citing an illness. Here’s more on the story.

Who is the defending champion of the Truist?
