Back again with another NHL 25 trade simulation, today we look at the Columbus Blue Jackets sending defenseman David Jiricek to the Minnesota Wild for Daemon Hunt and draft picks.
Jiricek was the sixth overall pick in the 2022 NHL draft and was reportedly unhappy with his situation in Columbus.
We booted up Franchise Mode to see who got the better end of the deal.
After the latest update Jiricek is rated 83 overall and has medium elite potential in NHL 25, Hunt is 74 overall and medium top six potential.

When we proposed the deal as the Minnesota Wild in NHL 25 the Blue Jackets jumped at the deal, the draft picks excited them enough they were happy to accept.
Alternatively, when we proposed the deal as Columbus the deal was not accepted, with Minnesota stating it was not enough value.
Ultimately we cannot factor Jiricek’s desire to be traded into Franchise mode, but the game thinks that Minnesota came out slightly ahead in the trade.
