Asterisk Talley will be making her third Augusta National Women’s Amateur start next week. She’s finished inside the top 10 twice, and she’s coming off a one-stroke loss in 2025. But now the 17-year-old has a secret weapon heading into this year’s ANWA: No. 1 male junior Miles Russell on her bag.

In an Avengers-esque team-up, Talley and Russell, the two best junior golfers in the world, will take on the preeminent event together in search of Talley’s first win at the home of the Masters. She, of course, has won her fair share of tournaments, recently becoming the first girls winner to have multiple victories at Sage Valley. And she’ll certainly be the only player to have a caddie with back-to-back Junior Invitational titles.

“Me and Miles are good friends, so I think it’s nice for us to win this tournament,” Talley said after the Junior Invitational. “I know it gives us both a lot of confidence, so I mean we just had a great week this week and I think we’re going to take that with us for the next couple of tournaments.”

This also won’t be the first time the two have taken on a prestigious event together, as they have been teammates on the U.S. National Junior Team. They even teed off together at Nassau Country Club and Bethpage Black Course for the 2025 Junior Ryder Cup in Mixed Foursomes and Mixed Four-ball. The pair went 1-0-1, leading the U.S. to victory, and is certainly hoping to find a similar groove at the ANWA.

Talley is committed to Stanford as the No. 1 prospect in the Class of 2027, and Russell is committed to Florida State as the top prospect in the same class. This might be the strongest player-caddie duo in golf history, at least until Scottie Scheffler gets Rory McIlroy on his bag … or vice-versa.

After the opening two rounds at Champions Retreat, the amateurs frequently switch to club caddies for the final round at Augusta National. It’s unclear whether or not Russell will loop for Talley at the major course, but a No. 1 junior is a pretty good backup option.
