Tony Stewart’s NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series re-introduction hit a speed bump on Lap 36 at Daytona.
Jake Garcia spun off of turn 4 right in front of Stewart’s No. 25 Kaulig Racing Chevrolet, midway through the Fresh from Florida 250 on Feb. 13.
The No. 25 team attempted to make enough repairs under caution while on the damaged vehicle policy clock, but the steering damage and cosmetic issues were too much to overcome.

Stewart will be credited with a 36th-place finish.
“It was starting to get fun, where we could mix it up a little bit,” Stewart said on the FOX post-crash interview.
The NASCAR Hall of Fame driver was driving in a national series race for the first time since the 2016 Cup Series finale at Homestead-Miami, the final race before his retirement from full-time stock-car racing.
Stewart last raced in the Truck Series on June 4, 2005, at Dover, where he finished in 2nd for Morgan-Dollar Motorsports.

Crew chief Alex Yontz apologized to Stewart on the radio for the bad luck, then hoped aloud that Stewart would drive in another race for Kaulig’s Truck program in the future.

“I’d say there’s a good shot of that,” Stewart said.
Stewart put it another way in his post-crash interview with FOX: “Never say never.”
