Two days before the start of the 2024 Grant Thornton Invitational at Tiburon Golf Club in Naples, Florida, PGA Tour star Tony Finau has withdrawn from the field. Finau was paired with Nelly Korda in the mixed event — they finished T-4 last year — and will be replaced by Daniel Berger.
Amid LIV Golf rumors, Finau confirmed to Golfweek‘s Adam Schupak last week that his withdrawal from the Hero World Challenge in the Bahamas had nothing to do with leaving for the Saudi-backed circuit. Instead, it was to rest from off-season surgery he had on his knee.
“From what my doctor told me it was pretty standard clean up,” he told Golfweek via phone last Wednesday. “He said it would be helpful and so I did it.”
Berger last teed it up at The RSM Classic, where he finished T-2.
