The opening round of The Players Championship was briefly halted because of incoming storms just after noon local time on Thursday. At the time of the 21-minute delay, Tommy Fleetwood was leading the tournament at 5-under.
TPC Sawgrass officials blew the horn at 12:09 p.m., slightly earlier than tournament organizers anticipated. A rainy front blew into the Jacksonville area, but without lightning, meaning the tournament was able to restart again quickly.

Gusts of up to 40 mph were recorded at TPC Sawgrass, and players were held in place as long as there were no indications of electricity in the storms. The horn blew to restart play at 12:31 p.m. local time.
